Education Projects
Schools
The Funzi and Bodo Trust replaced crumbling and dangerous buildings and rebuilt two new primary schools in the villages. Children who had previously sat on rocks to be taught had desks and access to new learning facilities
Libraries
The Funzi and Bodo Trust has built and stocked two libraries at the primary schools. For the first time children had access to reading material and teachers were given resource and text books to teach the children.
Computer Training
Children living in mud hut villages in remote areas had no access to modern technology. This deprived them of learning resources. Children were also missing oit non modern skills which would equip them to enter the modern job market later in life. Both schools now have computer training centres where they learn how to use computers. Adult classes are also provided . This was a first for any rural school in this part of Kenya
Teaching Support
Both primary schools are run by Kenyan education services. They still lack sufficient teachers for all classes to have a dedicated teacher, The Funzi and Bodo Trust provides extra teaching support and people who fulfill these roles are usually then given the opportunity to gain further qualifications and learning themselves at colleges and University.
University and College Education
The Funzi and Bodo Trust is funding young people through to college or University with amazing results. This will transform whole families and lift them out of poverty as young people qualify for professions and jobs. Watch our short film of successful students.
Girls Education
Girls who had begun to menstruate were routinely missing school when having their periods. The Funzi and Bodo Trust gives free reusable sanitary pads to students and has created sewing workshops making the pads. These also provide employment for women in the villages.
